I'm enjoying the Trio more now, too. They actually made me laugh in
"Gone", and moved the plot well in "Dead Things". Plus while I'm still
extremely offended that a show that used to BE ABOUT the outsiders has
now descended into nerd-bashing, the wound isn't quite so fresh any
more. (Plus as the plot has gone along, the scenes have become more
about the dynamic between the characters and their reaction to the plot,
rather than just "oh, look at the uncool kids--let's laugh at them!")
And I liked the Boba Fett joke, too--for the first 3 seconds. Spike
threatens the doll, Warren caves, very funny, next please.
However, when they spent an entire minute and a half (yes, I timed it; I
was that annoyed) doing 52 versions of a "hostage negotiator" joke (we
get it, already--MOVE ON!) it just brought the momentum to a screeching
halt, IMO. Plus just think what could have been done instead with that
time (Xander still hasn't seen his old buddy Amy, for example). A note
to Drew Greenberg: when you've got four separate plots running in an ep
(Buffy/Spike, Willow/Amy, Tara/Dawn, the geeks), you want to keep things
moving--otherwise, you'll end up shortchanging something. (Mind you, I
still liked the ep.)
Anyway, that's just an old issue. The Losers are getting more enjoyable
and more interesting--which still doesn't mean I want to see them
almost every week.
