The only problem with that theory is that Nicholas Brandon is contracted for
Season Seven. So, for that matter, is Emma Caufield. I predict lots of
post-break up tension next season.
There's been some talk about whether this ep could lead to a Buffy/Xander
subplot in the future. While I still hold that Buffy and Willow would be the
best match-up on the show, I look at the prospect of a romance between the
Slayer and the former Zeppo, and I find myself thinking, 'She could do
worse!'. At this point, I am a B/ABS shipper(Buffy/Anyone But Spike!).
Before matching Buffy up with anyone, however, we need to address a lot of
the 'She came back wrong' stuff that hasn't really been addressed. Breaking
it off with Spike is a step in the right direction. Hopefully next week's ep
will continue in that vein. Some rumors I read about it indicate that we'll
finally get some plotline development on that score.
How's this for an idea for next season; Anya goes back to being a vengence
demon, dechips Spike, and the two of them join forces to get back at Buffy
and Xander(and Willow, since Anya still thinks she was trying to break up her
and Xander.).

Grateful, he made a gift to me of these few precious words:
If you find yourself on a cliffside, trapped,
with a hungry tiger waiting above
and a hungry tiger waiting below,
and by chance you spy a single strawberry
growing from the cliffside...
pluck the strawberry...
and bite into it...
and taste it."
