Re: OT:Poor Willow
Keith,
Well, it 's not just Willow--nobody's allowed to be happy (Hellmouth
and all that, plus Joss is evil).
Heck, at two years a clip, each of Willow's relationships has lasted as
long as Xander/Cordelia and Giles/Jenny combined. (*sniff* Season 2
*sniff*--hook up B/W and it's perfect.)
Plus, they were going to keep Willow/Oz going much longer (I'll skip the
Oz-bashing, but let me say, I would NOT have enjoyed that), but Seth
Green wanted to move on to his big future in movies (or whatever).
We're still UC, after all, so I can't cry over 'ships that lasted a mere
two years when we don't even have one lousy kiss?
But if you're optimistic, you can look at it this way:
Oz taught Willow what it was like to be in a relationship, and to be
sexual.
Tara taught Willow what it was like to have a relationship with another
woman.
Angel taught Buffy that no matter how much two people love one another,
you can't change what someone is.
Riley taught Buffy that no matter how perfect a guy may seem, you can't
make yourself love him.
Spike taught Buffy that no matter how much a purely physical
relationship may help dull the pain, you can't live like that.
So perhaps they're all just steps to Willow being with the person she
has always really loved, and to Buffy realizing that she needs toi be
with someone who can be with her, whom she truly loves, someone with
whom she has more than just cheap physicality. Perhaps all these blind
alleys are simply here to eventually lead B/W where they belong, with
each other.
We live in hope.
