Re: Double Meat Palace and Dead Things

Calm now.

One last note on "Dead Things": I'm irritated by Buffy and Spike being
under the rug in the teaser. In a bed, on top of the bed, on the floor,
fine--but who has sex UNDER a rug? I know, it's just to show Buffy
having The Greatest Sex of Her Life (yawn) without showing any skin, but
it's just stupid, IMO.

Speaking of yawns, "Doublemeat Palace" was nice and dull, but Cas is
right that it was good from a 'shipper perspective. Lot of anti-B/S,
pro B/W stuff in there. And, Cas, I think the Willow the Penis Slayer
imagery has been followed up on--Buffy was paralyzed by her
Spike-screwing, but was saved from her catatonia (in "Normal Again") by
her bond with her friends, and, especially, Willow. Now it just remains
for ME to take the next logical step and have Willow replace Spike in
Buffy's bed, as well as in her larger life. After all, what's the point
of all this B/S if not to show that empty sex is destructive and Buffy
has to build her life with someone she truly loves?

When Buffy cries out for Willow, she's crying out for the person she
loves and needs most. We can only hope Marti lets her have her wish.

As for my favorite Season 6 eps, so far:

1) "Normal Again"
2) "Hell's Bells" --the only 'real' eps of the season, IMO
3) "Once More With Feeling"--beautiful but plotless, and destructive to
Xander's character (summoning demons??) for the sake of a cheap laugh.
4) "Smashed"--tightly written (except for that deadly long "Boba Fett"
joke) and I guess it's not this ep's fault that we didn't get the plot
movement it promised.
5) "Gone"--just a trifle, but mostly enjoyable.
6) "Bargaining, Part 1"--all set-up stuff, but nice character work,
especially with Giles and Willow.
7) "Tabula Rasa" semi-decent amnesia comedy, just hideously misplaced.
NOT the ep we needed after the musical, or for Giles's last ep, much
less both.
