Actually, I got the idea from an eighties Doctor Strange story from Marvel 
Comics. Doctor Strange and a team of vamp hunters had completed a spell that 
had killed all vampires in the world, but one of Strange's allies was a 
benevolent vamp. Strange and the others used a mix of magic and medicine to 
restore him to fully human, before the spell could destroy him.

Or you could try the controlled feeding from a loved one that they 
experimented with on 'Forever Knight' (an underrated show, FYI. I especially 
liked Nigel Bennett as LaCroix).
