OT: "Entropy" promo--SPOILERS for promo only
Okay, so what are we to make of that promo for next week's new ep? I
know plenty of people are all nicely spoiled about it, but I thought I
might start a non-spoiler speculation discussion, just based on what we
saw last night (I skipped the rerun, but made sure to catch the promo).
So there aren't any actual Spoilers for "Entropy" being discussed here,
but since the promo had its first U.S. airing within the past week, I
still need to use the

Okay, so I saw what Willow sees on the laptop and I said "ICK!!" and
"Not again!" and "what the hell was the point of Buffy's epiphany in
'Normal Again' if she's going right back to William the Sleazy?" (not
to mention that she just got done trying to kill the people who tie her
to this world and Lemonhead didn't merit a thought on that score). But
when I looked at it again (and again, and again), I noticed something.
The woman with Spike is pixillated (sp?) so as to be unrecognizable.
Now why would they do this if it was Buffy? Maybe it's someone else?
It has to be someone in the group, or else Xander wouldn't hit Spike
(not that he needs that much provocation). It's not Willow or Dawn,
because they're watching. Tara seems unlikely (hello, gay always!), and
besides she's too busy putting Willow back in those ugly "witch" clothes
poor Will wears whenever she's around. (Ugh! to that blouse, that's all
I can say)
But what about Anya? If she seems to be going back to demonhood, then
boinking Spike can't be that much of a stretch, right?
Arguments against this theory are that when Willow sees whatever she
sees, she covers Dawn's eyes before looking for Xander's reaction.
Also, in the scene outside the Magic Box, Xander is standing next to
Anya and seems disgusted with Buffy, not her.
OTOH, the fact that the tryst apparently takes place in the Magic Box (a
skull is visible in the background) would point towards the
proprietress. And when Xander stomps off, he moves past Buffy, away
from Anya, and doesn't seem to be taking her with him.
Perhaps this is after Xander saw the two demons getting horizontal, and
Spike has reacted to his righteous anger by spilling the news about how
he used to boink Buffy? So Xander would then be revolted by both women.
Finally, as a B/W 'shipper, I'd like to think that Willow wouldn't
(apparently) stay home and watch Dawn while Xander ran down to the Box
to interrupt Spike's sexcapades with Buffy, so since we didn't see
Willow and Dawn outside the Box, that means it wasn't a B/S hookup.
But, to be honest, we already know that no one is going to totally freak
if they find out about Buffy/Spike, because they've already reacted to
it once, in "Intervention".
Yes, that turned out to be the BuffyBot, but Will thought it was Buffy
and she didn't burst into tears, so I guess she could take the real
thing quietly, too, and just wait for Buffy to come home. (And given
that we've already seen that the Scoobs can handle the concept of Buffy
embarassing herself with Spike, although they were understandably
sickened, Spike and Buffy's [and the B/Sers' and maybe the writing
staff's] joint belief that the gang couldn't handle it seems ridiculous
to me.) However, I can't really see Dawn waiting at home, instead of
running off and tearing Buffy a new hole, so maybe that's a point in
favor of the "he's doing Anya" theory.
So, I'm going to have six days of hoping it's Anya who's the floozy,
because I'd like to at least have one moment of respect for Buffy during
this whole season.
