I have to agree with Mad Hamlet on this one. It's not whether someone on the
show kills that turns that character evil, but how they deal with it.
Two examples; Twice now, Buffy thought she had killed someone. First in
"Ted"(turned out to be a robot), second in "Dead Things"(brain-whammied by
Warren). In both cases, Buffy felt remorse, grief and guilt over her
perceived actions. In "Dead Things" she even considered turning herself in
to the police. It hurt like hell, but she was willing to take responsibility
for her crimes. On the other hand, we have Faith, who killed Allen Finch in
"Bad Girls". Her only concern was making sure her tracks were covered. At
the end of the ep, Buffy confronted Faith, saying, "You don't get it. You
killed someone!" Faith answered, "No, you don't get it. I don't care!"
If Willow does kill Warren, as all the spoilers seem to be pointing to, and
once the storyline ends regrets her actions, there is hope for her in the
future. Sadly no one can brave the Hellmouth for any length of time without
being affected by it. It's how she deals with the darkness inside her that
determines the direction of her character. Hopefully she won't descend into
madness or evil. Me, I think she's strong enough to deal with anything.
