starting on a somwhat belated note about the
plausibility (or otherwise) Tara's death (although it
seems to still be a rather emotional topic for some)

I was looking at the last two minutes ot the episode
(40MB is a big download for some of us), and I found
that all of the shots fired where within two seconds -
unless Tara was highly trained, or concentrating on
expecting shots (I expect concentrating on Willow was
more likely) it is very unlikley that she could have
had time for much reaction, so heroics where out of
the question.

To quote Daria: "Life sucks, and then you die"

>From a story telling perspective needing anything less
than this extreme provication to send Willow over the
edge would have been a severe change to her character
(I see villians and later as pretty much in charater
too, but that's a different spoiler level).

As for Spike, I think that he may be realising that
prehaps his vampire nature is as much a problem as his
chip - the chip, by taking away all he enjoyed as a
vamipre, has only served to make it clear to him that
the demon's motives can run contrary to his own,
prehaps more of a "clockwork onion" than an orange?
Will he try to escape from both controls?

That seemed a lot clearer in my head, giving up now
