Ouch. I never read that one. So that's why this
season's "grow up" theme went so awry...

Interesting point. But at no previous time have I
seen any evidence that powerful covens and other
gathered forces of Light deign to interfere directly
in Sunnydale's affairs. To what coven would Buffy
take Rack to be neutered? Are there any besides the
one in England? Why haven't we heard about them?

Doesn't Sunnydale contain *The* Mouth of Hell? 
Shouldn't that make it a "point of interest" around
which more forces of Light would gather than a very
young Slayer and her just-post-adolescent friends?

Why didn't anyone do something about Rack before, for
the sake of decency at least? And even more, to
prevent potentially powerful witches like Willow and
Amy from being corrupted? He's apparently been around
for quite some time.

This can be filed in the same category as "why don't
the Powers that Be interfere more like they do in
L.A.?"

I suppose it's just a case of the writers' interests
conflicting with the characters' interests. If the
powers of Light had a more organized front, Buffy
wouldn't have to work so hard. Less conflict for the
protagonist, less drama. Law & Order with demons. 
Though some people seem to like watching Law & Order.
