RE: Fic: Red Skies at Morning (part 2/?) W/BNC17

Only one thing- the sex was, at least on Willow's part, unintentional.
(I realize it's a bit thin as premises go, but there it is)

Thanks for the feed, though. I love detailed feedback!

BTW, you forgot one more consequence of no Oz, ergo no clothes fluke,
ergo no Wish.

No Vamp Willow!

I liked Vamp Willow. I mean, sure she was evil, but- when she tossed
Percy across the pool table? It just doesn't get much more awesome than
that!

Bear,

Aww, poor Oz! Still, that's what he gets for running off and not
telling the gang he was the werewolf (always thought that was a little
morally weak on his part).

[And, pointing out how little he mattered, I think if you rewrote
history without him, he wouldn't be missed. If he isn't there to swipe
the credit for Xander's "I love you" to Willow in the hospital, the
whole Willow/Xander/Cordy thing probably gets resolved much quicker, and
less painfully (especially for Cordelia). "Dead Man's Party" is a lot
more peaceful if Oz doesn't sabotage the dinner party with his
"hootenany" (downside: Pat may not die), and if Cordelia doesn't fall
through the stairs in "Lovers Walk" (she'd never have found the factory
if Oz hadn't sniffed it out), then she's probably not angry enough to be
making a Wish, and we don't get stuck with Anya as a result. All good,
in my book. Worst thing I can think of is that he was useful in
"Gingerbread", but I have to figure that between Buffy (who isn't
stupid) and Xander (who took computer class), they can find a way to
reach Willow on the laptop even if Oz isn't there to do it for them.
And they may not even need to know what the Hansel & Gretel demon is in
order to defeat it.]

Anyway, loved the Naked Willow encounter after she passes out (" 'My
Willow'? Possessive much?") and the interaction the rest of the day was
cute. I was getting a little twitchy when Willow was saying her goodbye
to Buffy at Giles's place, though; after all, time was of the essence,
and I had visions of Giles getting crispy-fried. Not the time for
slow-and-sweet huggage, that.

(BTW, according to the shooting script for "Passion", Cordy does drive
them *all* straight to the factory, which is only logical. Here's the
scene with Willow, Cordelia and Xander outside:

*****************************************************
EXT. INDUSTRIAL PARK OUTSIDE THE FACTORY-CONTINUOUS

As Buffy and Giles are met by Willow, Xander and Cordelia.

WILLOW: Buffy!

CORDELIA: Are you okay?

Giles turns on Buffy, etc.
**************************************************

This scene got trimmed down to just Buffy and Giles, to increase the
emotional impact, but it still makes sense that they all go, asap.
Presumably, the others are just waiting by the car.)

The conversation afterwards was very nice, though, with Willow defusing
Buffy's guilt by bringing up Dave and Fritz. (Boy, no one got out of
that computer lab alive, did they?)

And mad, mad, mad props for making the argument against the resouling
that I always thought Xander should have made! "Angel" is only created
to punish Angelus, it's an unfair deal for the soul. If Angel is not
responsible for the demon's deeds, then dust Angelus and let the soul be
at peace. And if Angel *is* responsible for Angelus's acts, then
dusting him is justice.

(Btw, it has always been Angel's own position that he is responsible
[after all, he drank Darla's blood, he slept with Buffy even though he
knew he shouldn't], although the curse may be shaping his attitude on
this. Buffy is keeping Angel from his reward, be it heaven or hell,
and, in either case, he's earned it. And at this time, nobody knew
about Angel having a "greater purpose" or a special, PTB-declared
destiny; perhaps that was put in to counter just such arguments?)

The "smutty-Willow" line about Buffy's cherry was a great
tension-breaker, and I can well believe a welcome relief. The sex,
OTOH, while darned hot, and I suppose believable on a "distraught people
seeking comfort" basis, was just too squicky for me. Jenny isn't even
buried yet and they're going at it? Yuck, I'm sorry to say.

Well, enough of this tome; on to part 3. Good work, despite my
objections, and I look forward to much happiness to come (not to mention
"Mistress Willow" going into action). Can't wait to see the gang respond
to the news.

Thanks,

Dan
