Re: Murder, morality, etc.
Personally, I feel Warren got what he deserved. Attempted rape, attempted
murder, and 2 actual murders.
So no tears here.
As for the other two, they both tried to rape K as well, so I wouldn't have
shed any tears for them either.
Fact is, a few months in prison, or probation, ain't nearly enough for a
crime that destroys a person's life.

Jolie,
As you yourself point out, had Buffy killed Faith to save Angel, that
would have been choosing to save one person out of two, essentially
acting on Angel's behalf as his instrument of self-defense (since it was
Faith who had started the combat between her and Angel, by poisoning
him). Plus, as it turns out, Angel didn't need to "drain" a Slayer to
live, so moot point anyway.
Willow on the other hand, had no reason to kill Warren (who was a
helpless prisoner that they had an ironclad case [with Buffy and Xander
as eyewitnesses, and lots of forensic evidence] against), other than her
emotional satisfaction. Yes, she was upset that Tara had been killed,
but Warren was also upset when Katrina accused him of planning to rape
her, called him sick and said she was going to turn him into the cops.
Willow's grief is no more an excuse for the skinning than Warren's fear
and shame and anger were for smashing Katrina with the champagne bottle
(and Warren was the one who acted without conscious intent to kill,
although it still qualifies as murder both under the "felony murder"
statute and the "reckless disregard for human life" definition of
second-degree murder).
Could Warren have been redeemed? Well, we'll never know, that's the
point. Willow took that chance away from him, just as much as Warren
took Tara's chance at rebuilding her life with Willow away from her.
Certainly Faith looked pretty irredeemable when Buffy stuck her with the
knife, but look what's happened since. It's like Wesley says in "Five
by Five" (and this is clearly Jim Kouf laying the groundwork for Faith's
redemption later in the ep), as long as Marquez (the gang member) has a
soul, he still has, deep down, "an urge to do what's right" and they
can't give up on him.
Also, IMO, Buffy's running away is another example of people letting
their emotions control them, so I'm okay with that analogy, but not with
lumping "Normal Again" in there. Buffy was legally insane-she
honestly believed that Willow, Xander, and Dawn were not living
creatures, but things her mind had created to "trap" her into her
"delusion", so I can't call her an attempted murderer here. No jury
would convict her (assuming she could present the evidence convincingly,
that is).
Which, btw, makes the end all the sweeter for us-Buffy loves Willow so
much that ultimately she doesn't care if Willow isn't real and she's
destroying her own sanity to be with Willow; she just can't let her go.
Okay, so that's not quite what happened (we can't forget that Joyce's
"believe in yourself" speech made Buffy realize that she was trying to
take the easy way out and that Sunnydale, pain and all, was in fact
real), but if it ever turns out that the Asylum was real and Sunnydale a
delusion, as is possible after that ambiguous ending, it will mean the
sadness of Buffy's insanity is somewhat leavened by the depth of Buffy's
love for the soulmate her mind created. (**sniff**)

PS-it's nice that Jonathan showed more remorse over murdering Katrina
than Andrew did, but at the time they were equally guilty. They both
willingly participated in the assault, kidnapping, and attempted rape of
Katrina-when she ends up dead as a result of their felonious actions,
that's Felony Murder, by law. Even though it was Warren who hit her.
If you decide to share the crime, you share the consequences, including
murder charges.
