This is an issue that really bugs me. Giles had all his past experience
with magic, both good and bad, all the training from the Watcher's Council,
and he knew Willow well enough to know that she was going to continue
pursuing her interest in magic. Yet he never even attempts to teach her how
to use it safely and morally. All he does is give her a few lectures on how
misuse of magic is bad. Never even bothers to explain the rules of what
constitutes misuse either. And this is the same man who is always
emphasizing to Buffy that she must train, and the importance of knowledge.
Somebody had their head waaaay up their backside on that one, and I'm
thinking those somebodies were writers. The character would have known better.
