Re: Re: OT: Just my 2 cents
Spoiler
Space,
I
guess,
because
even
a

characterization
of
one's reaction to "Lessons" is still spoilery, at least for me...
I have to take issue with the concept that if you don't love and support
every single thing Joss does, then you are not a "true" Buffy fan, but a
"fair-weather" one.
Slavish devotion to Joss may make you a die-hard **Joss** fan, but my
love for the characters and show naturally inspires, nay, DEMANDS my
equally fierce hatred when everything that made the show special is
taken away.
It's like losing a loved one. Joss made me believe that a show could
have wonderful, love-inspiring characters. complex plots, razor-sharp
dialogue and true tragedy (and thus the promise of true happiness,
something we need in our lives). To heap equal praise on what I find to
be a morally bankrupt, skill-deprived knockoff would be a betrayal of
everything I loved.
I cry and laugh and stare with open-jawed amazement at the good
episodes. Being pissed at drek seems like the natural complement--I
only regret that I have to do it.
And abandoning the show when it seems hopelessly lost--after I gave it
all of Season Sux to right itself--seems a sad but necessary step for
me. They blew up the school, and the show ended. I can live with that.

Still gladly skipping next week's ep...
