Re: ::BuffyWantsWillow:: Lessons--SPOILERS
So why not full the buffer with non spoiler content?
(because it gets too big that why!)
My thoughts of shipping for the future in Buffy; Unlike Dan I'm
afraid I'm rather fond of Xander/Anya, and I think Joss will be
heading back in that direction despite the split: they grew up
togather, that's one hell (!) of a bond.
Plus, as a B/W shipper it keeps Xander away from my favourite girls,
further extrapolating when I told my sister about some of Joss and
Marti's hints about the new season she suggested Willow/Anya, so
having Anya out of circulation may a good idea too.
Joss seems to try hard to do the unexpected, and I'm pinning my hopes
that after Spike has been through hell for her she turns him down
[yay], or [not so good] he decides he didn't want her in the first
place.
The perennial B/W problems remain:
* If buffy is Gay, everone will by all Aha! BUCH! I knew it! (copious
Xena referances)
* Making both core female characters gay is almost as biased as none.
* It severly limits the relationship potential - you have one fewer
relationship dynamics just like that (of course that doesn't matter
if it is the end of the series, talk about a dilemma)
The only relationship I'm prepared to rule out is Buffy and Dawn
getting it on, despite the overwhealming subtext there are some
things that TV isn't ready for.
Hope the series gets better and doesn't end, without Buffy my
favourite TV is a tossup between Angel and Gilmore Girls

I read Dan's review last night and comparing it do other sources I've
come up with the alarming conclusion that I agree with him, mostly!
I still approve of Willow being in with the magics, quitting is the
sort of easy way out that rarely works (except for drugs, even as a
hard core legalisation fan I admit that), and only works in a larger
context of lifestyle change . So quitting would obviously mean bye
bye hellmouth, so long scoobys, forever (not loving!).
Most of the spike stuff was appalingly handled
How did he know, why was he there, why does Buffy want anything to do
with him? I know Buffy had a blind spot last year but she's meant to
be over that.
As for the "Mom" references I'm really hoping the Principal was
making a joke (not well acted/directed by the sound of it).
Introducing a whole lot of new characters doesn't look good for the
old established ones.
As for Buffy as Big Bad, I'm sure it will be more complex than that
(please don't make me look like an idiot Joss!), plus Dan's Baddies
always lie theorem is frequently contradicted in canon, the mayor was
right on the money about Buffy and Angel. (ALWAYS lying cramps your
style too much, part truths work better)
Buffy never did face whatever the primal slayer was alluding to, or
the darkness Dracula talked about, and her rationalisation "for Dawn"
at the end of the last season was pretty thin as a mission, so on
balance I'm hoping Buffy has to face her vocation and its meaning
again (I hope it not all about the Power, just about its use).
CA, whistling in the dark
(but a pessimist can expect to be pleaseantly surprised most of the
time, so who's really getting the bright side)
