I still don't like MagicConnectedWillow. Once upon a time, Willow's
passages were personal--standing up to Cordelia, chewing out Angel,
asking Oz out on a date, deciding that helping Buffy was a good fight.

Now "it's all about the power". Except while Buffy's power has always
been a metaphor for work, and for her own search for identity, Willow's
power is just a plot device, something "cool" for her to throw around.
She used this power to kill people--I think not casting any more spells
would be a nice first step towards amends.

So sad that there was absolutely nothing of Willow the human in the ep.
No grief for Tara, guilt over Dawn, anxiety about Buffy or relying on
Xander. Just "Oh, I have this power!" "Oh, I feel stuff!" "Oh, how
can I use magic responsibly?"

This looks to be Season 7's contender for the "Buffy Was In Heaven"
Character Arc that No One Watching Can Ever Relate To. At this point,
Angel-with-Tits is about the *best* thing we can hope for with Willow,
and I think it's going to be much worse than that for where she ends up.

Dan

taking his bitterness to bed :)
