Summery: A/U A different first season, different Willow.

Angel walked up the steps of the Summers front porch and rang the 
doorbell. Joyce Summers opened the door and smiled, ?Angel, please come in. 
Has there been any word yet?.
?Actually yes, is Buffy here?? Joyce walked over to the steps and called 
for Buffy. Buffy bounded down the steps and her face lit up a little when 
she saw the vampire sitting in her living room.
?Angel, tell me you found her?, Buffy asked.
?She called me a little bit ago. I have a friend who is going to bring her 
home after it gets dark.? Buffy jumped from her chair and hugged him.
Angel sighed not wanting her to get her hopes up, ?Buffy, there are some 
things that you need to know. Willow didn?t plan on coming home. She had a 
job there and was living with a friend of hers but Angie was bad news. This 
is the girl that Willow got arrested with a while back. Angie was a hooker 
and was killed last night. I had my friend Spike check some things out for 
me. Willow?s been pretty messed up the last two months she?s been gone. I?m 
not sure why she ran away in the first place, she was doing so well. We 
talked the night she left and I really thought she had things together. Now 
it seems she is worse then she ever was, if the things Spike told me are 
true.? Angel?s voice cracked and he stopped. Buffy saw the sadness in his 
eyes and put her hand on his shoulder to comfort him, ?Angel, we?ll just 
have to help her again and maybe again and again if we have too. I love 
her.?
?I love her too and you?re right.? Suddenly a thought crossed Buffy?s mind, 
?Can I ask you something, was Willow involved with this Angie? I mean 
sexually.? Angel thought for a minute but he knew he couldn?t lie to her, 
?Yeah, a while back. Whenever Willow?s parents kicked her out, she would 
always go to her. I?m sorry, Buffy.?
?No don?t be. I needed to know. It doesn?t change things; I guess I just 
know how she feels about me. She was honest in the beginning about not being 
sure if she could handle things, I guess she couldn?t.?
?She loves you, Buffy, I know she does.?
?Angel don?t, please, lets just get her back and get her better. Then Willow 
and I can sit down and figure things out.? Joyce could see the pain in her 
daughters? eyes and her heart broke. Joyce wanted to hate Willow but for 
some reason she felt that there was something that had made the red head 
leave, something bad. She put her arm around Buffy as they walked Angel to 
the door.
?Buffy, Spike is going to bring her to my house tonight, I think it would be 
a good idea if we waited for you to see her.? Buffy winced but knew that he 
was probably right, if Willow was as messed up as Angel said she wasn?t sure 
if she could handle seeing her.
?I know, just tell her I love her.?
?Good night Buffy, Miss Summers.? Buffy and her mom watched him walk off 
into the night, Buffy sat down on the steps and put her head into her hands. 
Joyce sat down beside her, ?It?s going to be ok, hon.?
?I hope so but I don?t think it will be.?


The next night Buffy and Giles where patrolling in one the cemetery when 
they heard fighting in the distance, Buffy ran toward the sound with Giles 
following. When they got close enough to make out what was going on, Buffy 
stopped dead in her tracks, Angel and Willow were just finishing off the 
last of the vampires they had been fighting and didn?t see them. Buffy 
looked at Willow she was skinner and seemed pale.
?Willow?, Buffy whispered. Willow looked up and met Buffy gaze. For just a 
second Buffy thought that Willow was going to run away but finally made her 
way to where Buffy and Giles were standing. Giles quietly slipped away and 
went to stand with Angel.
?Buffy, how are you?. Buffy winced hearing the discomfort in her voice; 
?Well I would be better if I knew why my girlfriend took off a couple of 
months ago. She didn?t even have the guts to tell me in person, just left a 
note and ran away.?
?You wouldn?t understand?, Willow said.
?Why don?t you try me? You be surprised at what I can understand.?
?I can?t. I?m sorry, I just can?t.?
?Can?t or won?t?, Buffy asked trying to keep her anger out of her voice but 
not quite getting there.
?Buffy?
?No don?t Buffy me, God damnit just tell me.?
?No?
?Was it because of her, wasn?t I good enough for you. Did you fuck her? Was 
it good??
Willow lost her temper and slammed Buffy into the crypt wall behind her, 
?Who the hell do you think you are, just because you say that you love me 
doesn?t give you the right to act this way.?
?Well I guess we both know how you feel about me, so it doesn?t matter if I 
love you or not. I?m not so sure if I love you now anyway, as a matter of 
fact I think I hate you right now?, Buffy took a deep breath to calm down 
before she said more things she would regret, ?No I do love you but I can?t 
do this. Either you get out of that house and stop drinking and using drugs 
or it?s over. Love or not.?
?I wondered how long it would take for it to get this point. Would have 
happened sooner if I hadn?t of left. No, I won?t stop not for you or anyone 
else?, Willow said and started to walk away.
?Willow, I?m going to say the same thing Xander said if you walk away there 
is no us anymore. You have a problem and you need help.? Willow looked at 
Buffy, turned and walked away. Buffy watched her girlfriend leave and 
collapsed to the ground.


Willow slammed into her house cussing. Her stepfather was sitting on the 
couch, ?Well if it isn?t the wayward daughter returning home. I would tell 
you it was nice to see you but it?s been pretty peaceful lately.? Willow 
looked at her stepfather with disgust. Neither of them saw her mother 
standing at the bottom of the steps.
?Fuck you?, Willow said.
?I thought I showed you what happens when you talk to me like that.?
?What you going to rape me again, asshole?, Willow knew that she was going 
to get her ass kicked but didn?t care this time, it felt good to stand up to 
him.
?If that?s what it takes.? Suddenly Willow mom walked into the room, ?Did 
you have sex with her.?
?With this slut, you have to be kidding?, he said. Willow?s mom walked over 
to the desk and pulled a gun from the drawer and pointed it at him, ?I?m 
going to ask you again did you have sex with her?? His eyes went wide, ?Yes, 
she deserved it. I hate that fucking bitch. She is a no good loser.? 
Willow?s mom moved the gun and pointed it at Willow.
?Mom?
The quiet night outside was disrupted by the sounds of two gunshots followed 
shortly by a third.
