FiC: I put your picture away 1/1

Summery: This came into my head when I was listening to a song by Kid Rock 
and Sheryl Crow. I?m not a big Kid Rock fan but it just clicked in my head.

Buffy picked up the picture of her and Willow that Xander had taken 
the summer before college started and sighed. ?It?s been four months since 
you left and it hasn?t gotten any easier?; she told the picture and put in 
her dresser drawer. She sat down on the bed and the flood of tears that had 
came nightly since she had called last week. Buffy replayed the call in her 
head.

?Hello?
?Buffy, hi how are you??
?Willow, it?s really good to hear your voice. How are things going? When are 
you coming home??
?Thanks, Good and that?s what I was calling you about. I not sure if I can 
come home. Buffy there are so many memories there. Not to mention I not sure 
if Dawn will be too happy to see me. Buffy I love you. I think it would be a 
good idea to just stay here for a while.?
?Willow I need you here. Dawn is cool we have been really connecting this 
summer and she misses you too.?
?I don?t know Buffy. Give me some time.?

Buffy wiped the tears from her eyes when she heard the front door close.
?Buffy you up here?, Dawn called and appeared in front of the doorway, ?I 
take it from the look on your face Willow hasn?t called.?
Buffy sighed, ?No not yet.?
?Buffy, why don?t you just call her and tell her how you feel. It?s clear 
that your in love with her and have been for a while now. I saw it even 
before Tara died. I think that?s maybe why I gave you such a hard time. I 
was afraid that you were going to come between them. I?m sorry for that.?
?Yeah well that?s the past and we are looking to the future. One most likely 
without Willow.?
?Think about what I said. Maybe we won?t have too if she knows how you 
feel.?
?It?s too soon but thinks for the advice.?

Willow sat at the desk in the living room glaring at the phone. Giles 
looked at the red head, ?Glaring at it isn?t going to make it any easier. 
You made your decision, all you have to do is pick it up and talk. Unless 
you have changed your mind which I might add would be a good idea.?
?You know damn well why I can?t go back there.?
?Yes well I think that is stupid. You love her and you need to tell her.?
?I can?t do that. She?s straight and would just be setting myself up for a 
fall.?
?Well three years ago I would have said you where straight too.?
?I just can?t Giles.?
?Then call her and move on with your life.?
Willow picked up a picture of her two best friends that was sitting on the 
desk and sighed. She traced her finger over the blonde and then put it in 
the drawer. She picked up the phone and dialed the familiar number.



Buffy hung up the phone and slid down the wall. Dawn sat down beside her 
sister and pulled her into her arms, ?It?ll be ok. Maybe she just needs some 
time to get better. She?ll be back sometime.?
?God I hope so.?


The pen Willow was using ran out of ink and she opened the drawer to get a 
new one when the picture caught her eye. She been gone for a year and missed 
her friends. A tear formed in her eye. She looked at Buffy and the love that 
she had been trying to run from came rushing back. She picked up the phone 
and dialed a number, ?Yes can you tell me when you next flight to Sunnydale 
California is.?


Buffy walked into her room and put the basket of clothes on her bed. She 
opened her drawer and found the picture of Willow. She set it on the dresser 
and picked up the phone. She had no idea what she was going to say as she 
listen to it ring. The voice she needed to hear answered. ?Hello?


Willow had no sooner hung up from the airline when it rang.
?Hello?
?Willow, I love you. I don?t mean I love you as my best friend but I?m in 
love with you and I miss you. I wanted to give you sometime to get over 
things but I can?t get you off my mind. I can?t understand why we living 
life this way. I found your picture today. I just called to tell you I want 
you to come back home. I called to say I love you, come back home.?
?My plane leaves tonight at 8. I love you too. I?m coming home.?


Giles smiled from the doorway. All was right once again in his family.
