OT: Listen up people!
Ok, I'm sitting here sick as a dog, looking and feeling like
complete shit (as I tend to do just after chemotherapy) and all of a
sudden I see a rush of emails that made me go "Whooa! I'm
getting
emails from The Kitten Board?"
One of the few highlights of going in for chemo is that several of
the nurses and docs are huge Buffy fans. We talk about Buffy and the
deeper issues on the show; it's great in that it makes the whole
chemo thing a little more bearable. We got the entire spectrum
covered, both sexuality and shipper preference. When it come to the
issues of Willow's sexuality, Tara's death, etc, etc,
they're united
on the following:
Willow ? gay or bi? Willow loves the person first, gender second.
Tara's death ? homophobic? No, just stupid.
Also they threaten bloody death to all the writers if they hear any
variation on the words/anvil "GAY NOW".
I've got most of them thinking that in the long run, the only
happy ships the core Scoobies (B-W-X) are ever going to have is with
some variation of core Scoobies (B/X, B/W, W/X, B/W/X).
John (the ward nurse and a W/T, B/W shipper) said something the other
day that I think sums up the whole situation:
"Joss really screwed the pooch with the whole Willow thing. He
had a
story line that could have been fantastic but ended up painting
himself into a corner. He can't get out without stomping all over
some group of fans. Sadly he's going down the path of least
resistance. Over the bodies of Willow/Oz and Willow/Xander fans."
Guys, when a doctor tells you you've got a 50/50 chance of
beating
cancer, you quickly learn what's important and what's not.
This whole argument don't matter a pair of fetid dingoes kidneys.
Period.
So please, quit the bitching and fighting and get on with the fic
writing.
