OT: In need of help from smart people

One thing about this group ... it is full of very creative, very 
intelligent people. So, I am turning to the members for some ideas 
and assistance.

A friend of mine is a very gifted writer. She composed a riddle that 
I cannot solve and refuses to give me the answer. 

I've tried a dozen different guesses, but she says they're all 
wrong. I am completely stumped. If any of you have any ideas, I 
would be forever grateful.

A fool's stare,
A blank eye,
In souls of secret,
In rivers of ice,
If you can find me, what is the prize?
