Re: FF: A Moment - Revised

[Kirayoshi,

Actually, Spike is only called "Spike" until Buffy, whose eyes the
events in Heaven are seen through, finds out that this is William's
human soul. In the last reference to him, when he's going off with
Jenny, he is in fact referred to as "William". Nicely done, Conner.]

MacBeth,

Loved the idea that Willow's spirit is bound up in Buffy and that Buffy
caused her own resurrection. I know it doesn't jibe with the show, but
perhaps it's just a prolonged period of confused until the darkness
lifts and Buffy is finally, truly, "alive" again. And the portrait of
Willow's heavenly spirit observing her body's wailing at Buffy's grave
gives a double meaning to the idea of someone feeling "hollow" over the
loss of a loved one.

Thanks,

Dan

PS--I certainly wish that ensouled Spike were actually like William,
instead of being the same Season Sux Spike with more whining and
Buffy-blaming. (There's a nice fic by a B/A writer that's just Spike in
the cargo hold of a boat coming back from Africa, having an internal
debate between his demon [who figures he's still in charge and this "got
a soul" thing is just the ticket back into Buffy's pants] and William
[who's lost, confused, disgusted at sharing Spike's memories--and
utterly repulsed by Buffy, whom he considers an amoral slut]. I have no
idea why William would "love" Buffy--but then, I don't know why Spike
does, either.)
