Okay stay with me here for a few cause I feel strongly about this and I
might not get the spelling or the grammar right and I am American, I just
have dyslexia.
I have a friend that has written F/F slash since before it was called slash;
she was even thrown in jail once for it, cause its against the law in the
South. So I kind of consider her an expert and we've had this talk about
it.... What she says is that way back when, 20 or 30 years ago, most the
women slash authors' had your same opinion. That guys or straight women
couldn't write slash cause they didn't understand what it meant to love a
woman and be a woman at the same time. That they didn't know what it was to
hide in the straight world, and have the idea of being thrown in jail,
losing your job, getting kicked out of your apartment meant and thus they
couldn't relate.
But then she discovered Buffy slash and realized that most of the writers
were men or straight women and that they were doing a good job. Not all of
them...I mean if I read one more NC-17 with soaking wetness I'm going
scream! But some of them do a wonderful job, and she said that was all that
really matters, all that is required is that the author really loves
women. That yes, a man might not understand about all the political and
social considerations about writing slash, but if he really loves women he
doesn't need too. There are some really good writers on these lists, and I
hope you give them all a chance...and remember when you run into the
dreaded, soaking of the panties line, all you have to do is hit the delete
key.
Okay now I'll let others that can say this better take a turn. In other
words I'll shut up now and go write some more on Afterlife....
Bright Blessings
Ivy
