'Yoshi's work is as high quality as usual. But, entirely apart from the
Spuffyness and general incompetence of the finale, what I was referring
to was the destruction of Sunnydale, which I feel hugely compromises the
general poignancy of the series, ie, Buffy risks her life so that other
people can live their lives. Destroying the Bronze and the Espresso
Pump and Decker Hardware and April Fool's and Willow's house and every
place that was a part of people's lives and turning the population of
Sunnydale into homeless refugees (and nobody can convince me that
*everyone* left, so there's probably hundreds dead, too) to my mind
spits on every time Buffy put her life on the line. She didn't "take
back the night"--she killed the whole town instead.  

But in a series where vamps are boinkable and demons cuddly folk like
Clem (Die, Clem, die! Die you kitten-chomping bastard!) and where the
lives of human being haven't mattered a damn for at least three seasons,
what could I have expected? I'd blame Marti (since it's clearly her
sensibility at work), but Joss was all-too-easily corrupted, IMO.  

Anyhow, as I said, Kirayoshi's followup is well-written as per his
standard, but my distaste for the finale does somewhat diminish my
enjoyment of any fic that builds on that last bit of "canon". Still,
that's just me.
