Re: FIC: Scenes VII-IX, Scenes from the Rest of Their Lives

1 ) Annette, I wrestled, trust me, cause I adore the Xan Man above almost all others
and also because I don't want the story to be about trashing Buffy.

2)Thank you - I'm glad to get feedback like this on it cause I'm not sure it's right
either and god knows I lose perspective with each edit.

3)He had a job to do in this scene. I needed to break Buffy (again) and motivate her
to make a decision, not necessarily a good one, that happens in the next scene. I
sent him in to do it because:

4) He's the right man for the job because he's broken too and he's not going to fight
fair. (think X in Entropy) Also, by using X, I don't have to worry right now about
fixing X and B after this (at least not right away-the two of them aren't the focus of
my story) . The only other person who could break B this bad right now is W but that
doesn't work with the remaining two scenes, cause B is the one screwing up here and
for W to lash out and break her is not the the direction I'm heading. W is the strong
one. B is the weak one. So again, Xander. he's the only one that is broken enough
himself to hit her while she's already down.

5) I think what I wrestled with the most was how much to go into his motivation,
which is much more than just the B/Willow thing. He lost his eye and he lost Anya, all
within the last 2 weeks and now he's sitting around at this motel with way too much
time on his hands. Willow in pain was the spark that set him off.

But how much do I need to put that in the story? It's already fairly sprawling. I don't
want B/W and later F to be hanging in a vaccuum with no other characters but I don't
want to venture off further into other characters and their story than I have to in order
to tell the story.

Thanks again.
