Not nearly - it was an ad hominem attack, clearly
defined as a challenge at the end of the post to try
and get people to look at the whole picture.

I find that statement absurd. I shouldn't make
assumptions about what other people think? You make
assumptions all the time about what others think. You
even read more into my post than what was there - what
kind of assumption is that about what I'm thinking?

Ah, yes. I forgot that Dan's the man and no matter
what he says - it's right. Never mind that my post
was addressed to the whole group, not those who think
they *ARE* the group. Well, I was looking forward to
some interesting points of view in this reply, as
that's what I've always seen from Dan, but since it's
become personal, I'll take his advice and delete this
now before reading any further. 

If there's room for discussion, instead of "whatever I
say goes" head-bashing in the remainder of this post,
let me know and I'll read the rest of it.
