Re: OT Threesomes
Hey,
As someones who almost cries when he sees a story he likes turning into a threesome or when someone suggests a 3some turn while giving fd and the writer seems to like the idea, i just had to give my opinion...
Of course it is MY personal opinion on the matter and only that.I'm also talking about my views about the characters on the show, not about real life lifetime choices.As far as i know people can have personal relationships with sheep for all I care.I can have an opinion on the subject at large, butit's not my life to run, so said opinion, when more especific stays with me...It's part of my " i don't ry to control/judge your life and you do the same for me" policy.Some people don't respect it sometimes but still...
Now on to the B/W/? principle...I don't like it...And no it's not a judgement, it's not a matter of "what's wrong about threesome" , it's a matter of personal choice...There are people who don't like B/W, B/S , W/T , why can't there be people who don't like B/W/T or W/F/B and all? I could try to explain why, but people should keep in mind this is MY take on things.
For one, I don't really like Tara.I tried , but the character never grew onme and when they finally gave her a personality they did it by messing with Willows, so i didn't have much choice here.Since most of the threesomes isee are W/B/T , i can't really get into it...
There's also the sex thing...While i do like the ocasional pwp stories, or chapters, i'm a fan of the romance, the angsty , the fluffy.I once read a 3some story that centered on the romantic side of things, i think it was from Hunter...It was very well written, even good, but it wasn't for me...I spent the entire thing only paying atttention to the moments where B/W were alone, without Tara around, and i don't think that was really the point of the story.Other than that a few others, most of the 3some stories i see center on the sexual aspect of things.To me sexual envolvement is a consequenceof the romantic one, soa story where people change partners as they do clothes or they follow the just add water principle(you know , the ones where you kinda expect the pizza guy _or girl in this case_ to show up and join in) is not as appealing as one dealing with the romance...I respect those who like it, i think that you should write/read what you like the most , but it just doesn't float my boat...It's not as if one type of story is better than the others, it's just like some people liking sci fi, others drama, action and so on.
But one thing that really bothers me with 3somes is the fact that it mostlyaffects B/W.Maybe it's because i don't read T/W or visit T/W sites or anything, but most of the times it's a primary B/W story or story concept that is turned into B/W/T . A T/W relationship never quite needs a third part, it's just so fullfiling , but the B/W one...It seems sometimes Tara gets in just because she is difficult to get hid of .T/W can't stay apart cause they're the great love of each other's lifes(the funny thing is that they did break up on the show, but that's another thing).It's like Buffy can share Willow with Tara , but Tara doesn't really share Willow with BUffy and Buffyand Tara...well, it's like Buffy and Tara are as close as B/W.Not only that , but TO ME , the posture they've adopted with their S.o. during the show doesn't really suggest an ability to share the affection of they one theylove/are with.And before anyone says anything, while i used the B/W/T example, it aplies to all, it's just that this is the one i see to see more of.
TO ME , once a relationship turns into a threesome it becomes another thing.The story no longer deals with that particular pair, doesn't center on that particular couple, on what they feel , how they complete each other, how they fill each other.In my vision of the couple, B/W would complete each other , feelings, sex and everything, so a third part would cheapen that.Theycan love other people in different ways, they can THINK they are in love with 2 people at once, but i don't see them having THAT love for two people at the same time with the same intensity.
Boy that was a rant....Well, i'm over now...Once again, it's MY PERSONAL view on the couple...

I have no problem with people having whatever personal preferences they like...

However, polyamory is just as valid a lifestyle choice as homosexuality. It's only a copout (in life or fiction) if done for the wrong reasons- which is true of any relationship; het, homo, or poly. I realize this isn't athreesome list, per se, but...
<personal opinion>
I'd love to see some nice season 1,2, 3, or 4 femslashy B/W/? or even B/W/?/?, so long as it's done well.
I'd even go for some Homo/Het B/W/? so long as no vampires are allowed tomolest our lovely girls.
Oh, and straight B/W? (pardon the pun) Well, if I must... ;)
