I got the impression that Buffy is a capable cook, but not a natural cook. As I recall, she was kind of stressed that Thanksgiving, and that was before the Shamash warriors arrived.

Now Dawn, I suspect, is a good cook, although she tends to treat cooking as an extreme sport;
Willow(watching Dawn turning a hot quesadilla with her bare fingers): "Or you could do it the hard way."
Dawn: "Spatulas are for wimps!"
