Apparently I didn't make myself clear.  It is not canon that Willow 
has an addictive personality.  It is canon that Willow: 1) increased 
her use of magic over time and 2) did things with her magic that 
caused trouble for herself and those around her.  Furthermore, I 
suppose* it's canon that magic suddenly became an addictive 
substance in 2001 and Will became addicted (and Giles & Anya were 
dealers of some sort), but even that does not equate to "Willow has 
an addictive personality."

*I say "suppose" because IMO that's a borderline "is it canon or 
not" case in that one could convincingly argue that Will & Amy 
weren't truly addicted in the technical sense, but they (and the 
others) used such terms because they had no better language.  I 
don't know that I buy that, tho; stupid as I thought it was, I 
accept that Amy & Will became addicted.

Frankly, I'd love for Joss & Marti to explain how something goes 
from being an addictive substance to a fundamental part of 
someone. "I'm sorry Mrs Jones, you are no longer a heroin addict; 
you are, in fact, a person whose nervous system *operates* on 
heroin!" Ridiculous.  In the S6 I started writing in my head shortly 
after Wrecked, witchfulness was already a fundamental part of 
Willow, but she was still fucked up because of self-esteem/self-
worth/self-efficacy issues.
