in total agreement about much of what you've said (other than Anya/X-that's another

BUT

I'm not sure that Xander would *immediately* warm up to the idea of B/W.

as you've said, it depends on the timeline, but I believe a B/W convergence would 
threaten Xander - initially- if only subconsciously.  They're a trio, the most important 
people in each other's lives.  Two people in that trio pair up-it's going to threaten the 
other, especially someone as emotionally fragile as Xander.  He wears his big old 
puppy heart on his sleeve and I think it would be evident that at a basic emotional 
level, he'd feel threatened, and knowing Xander, would make at least one blunder, 
most likely more. Being Xander, he leads with his heart. Being a man, his "little man" 
would be second in command.  Blunders would be made.

But I think he'd wig-a little or a lot- at first and I think B/W would be aware of the 
potential for wiggy-ness and try to mitigate it somehow-either by keeping things 
secret or trying to explain or something that, knowing both of them, would probably 
not go too well either.  

It's hard to picture a scenario where there would be a major break up of the Scoobs 
over it, though.  I think first and foremost, they love each other.
