I want to thank whoever recommended that
book! I normally don't read the Buffy Novels because I think there are
some great writers on this list. I asked for The Lost Slayer for Chirstmas
because of the things I read about it here. And I have to say that it is very
well done. (Of course I'm only half-way through it.<g>) There
have been so many Buffy/Willow moments! I also love the way Golden
makes their friendship the number one plot point ... its really
good.

I've got mixed feelings about The Lost Slayer. It's
one of the better books out there (but not even the best Buffy novels compare to
a good fanfic).

It's got decent Scooby moments (not great but a
hell of a lot better than the show had for the last three seasons), a fitting
end for Spike (why couldn't we have seen that during season 6? I
would've paid BIG money to have seen that!), a fitting end for a kick ass
Xander, great use of Willow (and yeah, lots of cool Buffy/Willow moments)
and a pretty slick take on the old 'what would happen if Buffy disappeared and
Giles became a bad guy'.
Two things I didn't like.
1). Buffy kissing Xander and telling him that she
loved him (in a friendship way). The whole scene just screamed of season 7
Buffy bullshit (I know it was written before season 7 but it just reminds
me of why I hate season 7 Buffy Summers).
Wrong Scooby, Buffy. Try the redhead instead and I
just might believe that you mean it.
2). Xander/Anya. I. FUCKING. LOATHE. IT!. I
like Anya but I hate X/A as much as I hate B/S.
All up it ain't too bad but there are better novels
(like 'Blooded') and much better fanfic.
