RE: OT Fantasy novels (was Re: Re: vote)
I add Anne McCaffery and Piers Anthony to the list. As well as Jaqueline
Carey's Kushiel Series for thoose of a slightly kinkier mindset.

Ooo! I totally love MZB (the Darkover series, to die for) and Mercedes
Lackey, I own every book she's ever written. I just started getting into
Terry Pratchett - I got The Color of Magic last weekend and I'm going to
the used bookstore today to see if I can find some more of them. :)
My own contribution to the convo: David Eddings. He wrote two five-book
series: the Belgariad and the Malloreon, plus a few companion novels. You
have to read the Belgarion first because they're sequential. But they're
SO good. I picked up the first two of the Belgariad, _Pawn of Prophecy_
and _Queen of Sorcery_, and when I finished them (that night) I had to go
back and get all the rest. :)

"I have class this morning." he repeated as Buffy slid silently into the
water. She smiled knowingly.
"I know." Buffy wrapped her body around his, nipping softly at Giles' neck.
"I won't make you late." she promised. Water splashed as Giles moved
suddenly, pulling Buffy even closer.
"Ah, to hell with it." he muttered, covering Buffy's mouth with his own.

Geeze. Good call on going off to read 'The Sword of Shannara.' I'm
going
off to read the newest Valdemar anthology myself, mostly because I was a
very bad veggie at the bookstore today and probably won't wander back to
the
computer for a week.

Hey, a fellow Mercedes Lackey fan! Me, I tend to enjoy her urban
fantasy
stuff more(when is she gonna crank out another Diana Tregarde novel?),
but
Valdemar is pretty classy. Plus she's not afraid to write same-sex
relationships, and not for the shock value. In the meantime, there's
always
Terry Pratchet's Discworld, or Mariam Zimmer Bradley's The Mists of
Avalon.
