Re: OT - Question

I'll take this one because it's something I've done.  As a writer, when I say that a certain character purred when they were happy or growled when they were angry, it' not myintent to make them look primal or whatever... it's an attempt to get across that person's intensity of emotion.  For example:

She looked at the small box he was holding out to her.  "A present?" she purred.  "For me?"

or

"Take one step closer to my sister and I'll drop you where you stand," he growled.

It's not an _actual_ purr like a kitten or an _actual_ growl like a dog... it's more like a figure of speech.  When I use it, anyway.

"I have class this morning." he repeated as Buffy slid silently into the water. She smiled knowingly.
"I know." Buffy wrapped her body around his, nipping softly at Giles? neck. "I won?t make you late." she promised. Water splashed as Giles moved suddenly, pulling Buffy even closer.
"Ah, to hell with it." he muttered, covering Buffy?s mouth with his own.

No, but I think that they write it that way as some form of....umm, making
it destined? that Buffy be with whoever it is they're shipping. Get It Done
though was S7 and I've read fics (not very many, no, but still..) with her
being "primal" in S1, I think. I know there are several with it in S4. And
no, there's no where in canon that suggests it, but....it's hard to explain,
but I get how people get that feeling of 'primal-ness.' from the show;
especially S4 and on.
