Very reminiscent of romantic ideals for a predatory creature, pack of wolves,
pride of lions actual facts aside.

Onto that, I'll add.

I'm sure, there are lots of arguments utalising the idea of Slayer-Hunter
similarity and that's just spiffy. It should not be overlooked though a
fundemental behaivore that Buffy has exhibted pretty much from Day One(Though
it increased dramaticly as her 'career continued and/or based on events in her
life) that being her Lone Wolf streak. 

Many of the more Darkly Attractive predators go it alone. Wolves don't true,
nor the aformentioned lions. Tigers do and oh yes, those lovely, black
panthers. (Oh, oh dear me; that was SO un-PC, I'm sorry. Panthers of Color)

Now it's true there is very little in the show that states clearly: Buffy
Summers being a Slayer has a bestial and/or primal aspect to her personality
therefore it is okay to write fanfiction like that along those lines.

Then again it also does not state in the show: Buffy has secret yearning to
get all hot n'sweaty with Willow and/or Willow feels likewise. That didn't
stop us now did it?

Fine, fine more examples would also be that episode is S5. Post coital Buffy
can't sleep, she dashes out, runs down and kills a vamp and then goes to bed
truly satisfied. 

Runs down her prey. 

It could be said, argued, fowarded, endorsed and even debated that this is not
the 'Slayer as Protector' act. She did not go because she felt the calling to
seek out ye denizens of the dark and pound forth the wooden instrument of
justice into the unholy receptacle of their wrinkled, damned, black hearts. 

Nah.

She did it because she couldn't help it. It made her feel all fuzzy I guess.
All I know is after that quick kill she got back into bed with the most
cherubic smile on her face. 

Again it's not absolute evindence yay or nay on the position but it gives the
possibility for an idea that can, at times, blossom forth into a story. 

Of course that's where Representation and Justification come in.

Ie. How can you think so and so character from such and such
show/book/movie/etc would do, become, have sex with, that, them, they or him,
her, it.

Justification is not as important as representation since an excellent
representation is its own justification. When the work is carefully presented
and built up with no sweeping, sudden changes harking upon the writers
God-Complex (It's true because I wrote it, I AM GOD HERE!) that you have
Justification because of represenation. 

Now I find it a harder job, but better overall story, if the initial change is
tiny and then extrapolated from there. It's where a lot of fics fall apart,
the presentation is fundamentally flawed, weak, or overlooked completely. When
a poorly presented fic is defended and justification for that is sought you
get drama.

I digress. 

I'm not going to come into a position on this. Is Buffy seperate from the
Slayer, is the Slayer Buffy, or anything like. My work does it, so that's
that. I'm more interested in maintaining a good represenation and therefore, a
good story.

Now go away, you're just slowing DWR-NI-SEC down.
