Re: Kind of an OT post and sort of a ramble

Hey, now, B/Gers are very nice people (some of them hi, Rainne!are
even accomplished B/W authors, too*) and my thought is always that even
if Giles isn't your cup of tea (sorry!), well, at least he's not dead.
JMO, of course.

I'd actually heard good things about the B/G series, but you may know
I'm not known for reading long fics.  One thing someone (zorro, I think)
said on another list was that some of these start out non-ship, but then
bring on the Spuffy in ep 4 or 5.  (Because Spike is dead at the end of
Season 7, but tends not to stay that way, regardless of whether the
series follows "Angel" S5 canon or not.)  So you have to be cautious, if
you're averse.

My general lack of enthusiasm for VS8s is that they have to accept all
of S7 as canon, and I'd rather forget it.  Stories of Buffy roaming the
country, homeless, or of Academies of Slayage and nine million slayers
(or, worse, Buffy mourning Spike) don't really appeal to me.  I did read
a nice first ep of one where Buffy, Willow, Xander and Dawn move to a
small town in the Northwest (and Giles and all the S7 fallout are
off-stage) and it had a nice, early-season vibe.
But I see that Anya's in a future ep, and I'm a) tired of her and b)
worried this portends other UPN-era dross seeping into the story (inc.
possible Spuffy), so I haven't gone forward on it yet.

Tried to write a paragraph on why I thought people weren't writing B/W
seasons, but couldn't express myself properly.  So if someone wants to
prove me wrong, I'd love to see it.
