During filming

2 1/2 years before they started the subplot, according to ASH.  So, 
it'd be whatever 2 1/2 years was before Bring On The Night was 
written.

Or, more likely, Glory and Dawn were tacked as an afterthought?  
Again, didn't Dawn, and her whole storyline, seem a bit sudden?  A 
magically created kid sister that everyone suddenly had full 
memories of?

There's also something else to consider:  Fray, which was plotted 
(and announced) during the Spring of 2000, while Season 4 was still 
airing (In other words, before Season 5 began filming).  Set 
centuries in the future, we learn that vampires and hostile demons 
are finally regrouping after being pretty well decimated by the 
Slayer of the early 21st Century.  Said highly successful early 21st 
Century Slayer, and some magically inclined friends, closed the 
Hellmouth in an apocalyptic battle.  The early 21st Century Slayer 
with the magical friends also was established as having this 
mystical battle-axe looking weapon with an axe blade on one end and 
the other end being wooden and pointy...

Hmm...  Doesn't sound like "The Gift", to me.  Sounds like the 
Spring of 2000 was setting up something else.
