Re: Request to Authors

My fellow 'shippers,

I was asked to clarify my request and I post my answer here for you all.

"How does posting parts as replies make finding a fic easier?"

It doesn't make finding the fics easier. It makes finding all of the parts of a fic easier once you've found any one part. And it only applies to reading the fics in the groups message archives.

What I'm saying is that, when reading a fic in the archive, once you finished part one, you could simply click on part two that had been posted as a reply. Or, if in the databse you found part twelve, you could simply click "Up Thread" until you got to part one and begin reading from there. As it is now, you must return to the message index and read the message titles until you find the parts you're looking for.

Another benefit for all would be for parts that are posted after a delay. You could simply click "Up Thread" and refresh yourself on what had happened before.

I've been looking over the archive, reading what I've missed and it can be difficult sometimes. I'll read part one and then I'm forced to search for part two. I'll see a lot of other fics in between. This leaves me in a quandry: Do I read these others now as I find them, breaking the rhythm of the fic I started; or do I continue searching for a part two which may not even exist? One of the limitations of the Yahoo group message database is an inability to see all posts by a member. I'm just suggesting a way to overcome this lack. I know that will change nothing about fics that were posted earlier, but if you authors want to repost your older multipart fics in this format, I'd be thrilled. :)

Hope that answered your question.

Buffy/Willow forever,
Howard
