Okay, now I'm sooooooo freakin' jealous. I've tried to something like
that by creating a private yahoogroup and sending stories I liked there,
but I didn't update it often enough (I left the stories on "pending" so
I could fix format/spelling errors, and didn't prioritize that enough)

that&*le sigh*.

Totally off topic, but I love this stuff, so...

I use Eudora 6.1 Pro. Though I think the free offers a lot of the same features. It's available for Mac, Windows, and I think Linux users. I also believe it can be used even if your primary email account is Hotmail or Yahoo. I'm not certain about Web.TV though.

Also for Windows users, I hear PocoMail is pretty good. Outlook and Outlook Express get tons of props from people, but I can't recommend them since they are virus magnets, and actively enable viruses without any help from the user. So Eudora http://www.eudora.com or PocoMail http://www.pocomail.com/ are my recommendations.

If your on a Mac, especially if your running Mac OS X, then you have some great options:

Apple's Mail
http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/mail/
This is a great email client. Allowing some power user features such as sorts, filters, spam control, etc. I find it not as powerful as Eudora, hence no switching on my part.

MailSmith
http://www.barebones.com/products/mailsmith/index.shtml
This application has some great features. Each release tempts me, but I still stay with my Eudora.

Eudora Pro
http://www.eudora.com/
A classic that just keeps getting better. My biggest complaint is the slightly aging interface, but with Junk Mail, Power Filters, Rapid Fast Searches, Standard Mailboxes (you can open a mailbox in any version of Eudora, as well as in other application), address book works with Apple's Address Book, each mailbox can store over 33,000 messages, etc., etc.

What can I say. I LOVE Eudora. All my fan fiction is stored in a folder called "FanFiction". Inside that folder is BuffySlash, BirdsofPrey, Xena, Voyager, OnceandAgain, and more. The use of Filters, MailBox Sorts, and Searches make storing large amounts of email very easy to manage. Between work, friends, and fun my Eudora folder is 1.5GBs, but I can search through it all pretty quickly.

Give it a try. It makes storing fan fiction fun and easy. I probably have the best collection of Buffy/Willow, Popular, ER_KimKerry, and BirdsofPrey fictions (at least as it's been posted to news_groups). And by regularly removing the general conversations (using the search feature), I can keep the MailBox sizes down.
