Enjoying this.  Noticed it's grown from three chapters to four.  
Cool, just means there's more to be explored.


You've touched on something a lot of fans missed about the real 
reason (IMO, at least) Buffy was hoping for the best with the 
Initiative, hoping they were a benevolent organization.  It wasn't 
so much about her boyfriend as about the potential to be able to 
better protect her loved ones (not to mention the rest of the 
world).  Plus, of course, there's the idea that she could live past 
her mid-twenties with an army sharing the burden.  After all, if you 
think all you have to offer in a relationship is an early, probably 
painful, death, you're not likely to commit to anyone, or want them 
to commit to you.
