Fluffy-fic: Willow the Cheerleader

Hi :)
I said I would be back, so here is a little piece of fluff.

Story premise: Set in during the high school days area, totally off kilter story about Willow becoming a cheerleader and Buffy becoming the quarterback for the football team, due to of course the "mysterious" death rate in Sunnydale. Complete lack of vampires for the most part, a spin on the classic football romance. This will be completely open ended story as most fluff is so updates will be infrequent.

Prologue: The Cheerleader and the Quarterback

It will be fun they said, it couldn't hurt they said, it will look good on you collage application they said, but they never said it would be this short. Willow Rosenberg thought as she studied herself in a full length mirror, no way in hell she was going out in public wearing this skimpy thing. Still Sunnydale High's resident brainiac and proud card-carrying member of the Scooby Gang was officially a cheerleader. Pouting at her reflection she reached for her pom-poms she did a little number. "Give me a B, gimme an U, gimme a F, gimme a F, gimme an Y, what does that spell?" she sang and cheered before breaking down into a fit of giggles. Willow did look good in the outfit though; with her pale but shapely legs, honed from much running from baddies or cashing Buffy, going up forever before reaching the short yellow skirt. Her exposed midriff was nothing to be ashamed of either and her long red hair once braided and done up was a marvel to behold. Willow the Cheerleader was in all honesty extremely easy on the eyes.

Meanwhile there was much pondering going on with the coaches of the Sunnydale High's Sunbeams. There was a lack of suitable quarterbacks for the team, given they had runners, a must in Sunnydale, defenders and the hottest cheerleaders in the state, but there was not one student in the school who could throw the pigskin around. The ball hit the head coach.
"Sorry," the would be jock shouted.
"God damn it," Coach Jared Jameson cursed as he kicked the ball and sent it flying. A tall man in his late forties, with graying hair and sharp features. Usually the most stoic of coaches, but the lack of team leader was getting to the usually stoic man. "Guess we can write the try outs of the list?" Assistant Coach Julia Landis said, a dark haired woman in her late thirties and a result of mismatch in hiring that had turned into a PR coup for the school. "God?" Coach Jared asked and raised his hands to the skies. "Give me just this one break and I will not ask for anything else ever again." Julia sighed at the attics of the head-coach, but then the football came flying back in a graceful arch and landed in the waiting hands of Coach Jared. A pair of heads turned and four eyes landed on a petit second year blond who waved at them. "Nice kick," she said with a smile before being pounced upon by two very happy football coaches. They had The Sunnydale Sunbeam's new quarterback, one Elisabeth "Buffy" Summers.
Chapter One: Come again!

Buffy wondered how she'd gotten herself into this mess as she put on her pads and slipped her jersey over her head with the number nine and E.A. Summers spelled out on the back. There were no rules against girls playing high school football this being California the state of free range liberals. She dressed in a separate dressing room from the all boy team. Not that she couldn't dress with them without a problem, guys didn't really do it for her anymore, but she wasn't quite ready to go public with her sapphic longings just yet. Tugging her helmet under her arm she jogged out of the locker room and onto the training pitch and then her eyes met sparkling green ones and a silence fell over the green grass of the football field. "No way!" Cordelia head-cheerleader as per the universal order shouted as she saw the new quarterback coach had been talking about. "Buffy," Coach Jared said as he walked over carrying a clipboard and the smile of a man at peace with the universe. "Coach," she said and stood up straight. "Ready to throw some balls?" he asked. "Just point me in the right direction," she replied with a lopsided grin and walked past the gaping cheerleaders that had been practicing on the sidelines, but not with out waving to Willow who just smiled her big smile and waved back. "This is wrong!" on cheerleader protested as she pouted and huffed. "The rules do state that she can play," Willow said in defense of her friend. "I think it's cool a girl is playing," Lily, one of the junior cheerleaders as the groups watched Buffy warming up her throwing arm. "What about you Cordy?" Willow asked and turned to face the still flabbergasted head cheerleader. "Her name has a double consonant , we have to do something about that, otherwise hell if she wins us games it will be cool," she said and Willow breathed a sigh of relief because since Cordy was cool with it the discussion was over. Buffy could sense the strange mix of doubt, interest and male hormones when the coach introduced her to her teammates. Her blockers were two tall boys in the final year, twins by the looks of them, both with blond surfer hair and blue eyes that shone with honesty. "These are Jon and Tuck, their going to make sure that nobody gets near you," Coach Jared introduced that pair. "Hi," Buffy said and stuck out her hand and the twins smiled politely in turn and took it. "Strong silent types?" she asked and both boys smiled a small smile. Then Coach Jared introduced two lean looking boys, the oddest running pair she'd seen, but both looking like they could go from zero to fifty in under a millisecond. "This is Harry," he said and introduced a Asian youth who stuck out his hand and Buffy smiled and took it.
"Welcome on board Cap," he said with cheerful voice.
"Happy to be here Harry," Buffy replied.
"And this is Williams, or Wild Bill as we call him," coach said and introduced a young black man who likewise very politely over his hand. "A pleasure ma'am," he said in a cultivated voice. "Coach tells my can throw pigskin?" he asked.
"That's what he thinks," Buffy said with a shy smile.
"Lets try it then shall we?" he asked and flipped a ball to her. Buffy looked down at the ball and then back up at the runner. "Okay," she said with a grin. "Go," she shouted after the field cleared and Wild Bill was off like a rocket. When he was long enough away Buffy draw back her arm and let the ball fly and Wild Bill never knew what hit him as he caught the ball and was knocked back flat on his back. "Wow!" Coach Jared stated and Julia was kind enough to close his gapping mouth. And from the sidelines the chanting of gimme a B was heard from the now mostly convinced cheerleaders, but there was the lingering doubt about the social order of things. How could a cheerleader date the quarterback when said quarterback was also a girl. Interesting times were ahead at Sunnydale High.

Buffy walked out of the dressing room with a sly grin on her face, quarterback for the football team, figures that even her normal life should be a bit abnormal. Then she thought about Willow in her cheerleader uniform and her smile grew into a smile followed by a blush. Well I am the quarterback she thought to herself with a laugh as she opened her locker and started gathering her books. "Hi!" a perky voice said behind her causing her to jump slightly before turning around to face a grinning Willow, now dressed in her normal clothes, that now seemed somehow more alluring then even before because she had seen hints of the body beneath. "Willow," she said with a mock scowl. "Never sneak up on&"
"Quarterback," Willow said with a impish smile.
"That too," Buffy answered with as the scowl eased into a gentle smile. "We on for coffee and history later?" Willow asked as she studied her friend and noticed some new things, a small smudge of dirt on her cheek and the rumbled hair in a loose braid. Licking her fingers she reached out and took care of the smudge and the smiled before turning away and heading for class. Leaving a pleasantly surprised quarterback/Slayer behind her. I think I like cheerleaders Buffy thought with a smile as she closed her locker and headed for class.

When heading out for her study-date with Willow, Buffy was intercepted by a hyped up Xander and a grinning Cordy behind him. "Tell me it isn't true?" Xander asked. "Have you any idea what this does to the shreds of masculinity I have left, best friend cheerleader, other best friend quarterback, me team mascot?" he asked with rapid questions before Buffy got a chance to answer. "You're the team mascot?" Buffy asked after a moment of stunned silent and that sent Cordy into a fit of giggles as Xander threw up his hands and asked God, who was getting tired of all these questions, what he'd done to deserve this cruel joke of a life. "Xander relax, your masculinity is still in working order," Buffy said as she stopped her friend from going down on his knees and praying in the corridors. "Just ask Cordy," she said with a smirk which caused the head cheerleader to blush. "See," she said pointed at Cordelia and then executed a strategic retreat. Walking down the sunlit street towards the coffee shop where Willow waited Buffy thought about possibilities, the effects of her decisions to help the team and how cute Willow looked in the cheerleader outfit, a image that was stuck in her mind and would be transferred to the fantasy memory of her mind at the first opportunity and marked for later use, later that day. When she reached the shop she stopped and watched Willow through the windows, her friend was sipping on a cup of cappuccino, decaf, with extra foam and four sugars. The place was a nice little place facing the street with flowers growing in boxes under the windows. She smiled to herself and steeled herself so she wouldn't do anything stupid like throwing Willow over her shoulder and running off with her. Then she entered the shop and pulled her history book from her pack and graced her cheerleader with a loving smile and the happy hacker looked up and Buffy felt like she was staring into the sun and got dizzy. Yep strange times ahead at Sunnydale High.
