Re: when did it all begin?

Hi guys, I know I'm gonna regret this, but before this turns any uglier can we all just agree to disagree about how we feel about the various ships? What started out as one person asking, basically, when did you first dicover B/W and what about it appeals to you, has sort of degenerated into a my ship is better than yours thing. before it gets any worse let's do this, everybody read what they wanna read and just let this thing rest for now. Barring that, can we at least split this discussion into two separate threads? Alternatively those who want to continue the secondary topic that this turned into, can they do so off list so that the original discussion can go back to what the first poster intended it to be? Assuming anyone can remember what that was at this point.

Now before the list descends on me with all the versions of 'Butt out!' in existence, please keep in mind that the only reason I'm making this suggestion is that it looks like this thing has the potential of people maybe huting other people and maybe the list itself. (Getting ready to duck and cover.) B.

I personally can't see Buffy with a significantly older person, let alone an older man.  This includes Angel, Spike and Giles.  What appeals to me personally is Buffy with a female, especially Willow.  This is a personal preference, and our personal preferences make all of us close minded to some extent.

 

Buffy/Giles appeals to you for your own personal reasons.  The only sad thing is that any of us feel compelled to defend these preferences.  This does not rule out friendly debate.

What I pointed out regarding the quotes was my own personal take on the relationship and it's just that, my opinion.

 

Debates should be fun and enlightening, but should never be intended or taken personally.  And if something is intended personally we should each be secure enough in our opinions to see it as the defensive action of someone who is not secure in theirs.

 

These thougths are just an observation formulated from my own experiences and should hold no more weight than any others.

 

I've enjoyed this discussion because it has provided me more insight into the personalities of the others on this board.

I think I'm done with this topic.  You're not going to convince me that I'm wrong, and I don't care if I convince you whether I'm right.  I don't *need* to be right.  I have B/G and Giles-centric lists where they actually appreciate diversity and different pairings.
