Basically, there were a lot of women writers who thought them both
attractive, and decided that their close friendship HAD to be sexual.
That's the basic problem with slashfic in general, because, if you're
straight, you're likely not going to have sex with someone of the same
gender, no matter HOW close a friend they are, or how much comfort
they need.  And, if THEY'RE straight, they're not likely going to want
someone of their own gender coming on to them.  It'd be like "Oh,
great...  As if I didn't have enough problems, you're only nice to me
because you've been looking for the opportunity to screw me?!!"  :)

So, I need something more than just "These two are best friends" for a
slash ship to work, for me.
