Buffy's Confidant 2/?


'Okay, I'm in the car.  We're going to the airport.  We're going to 
pick up Willow.  I'm fine.  I can do this.  I can.  So, if I'm so 
brave why are my knees shaking so hard?'  Buffy puts her hands on 
her knees in an effort to still them.

She hears Dawn and Xander speaking. She thinks she might even have 
responded, but she isn't sure.  She feels Xnader looking at her.  
She doesn't want to be looked at right now.

'I'm not ready.  I'm not...I can't do this.  I'm not ready to see 
Willow yet.  How can I get out of this?!'  Buffy looks out the 
window trying not to look frantic, 'I can't get out of this.  I'm so 
sorry, Willow.  I'm such a coward, but I can't see you, yet.'

On the airplane, Willow hears the Captain announce landing.  She 
sits fidgeting in her seat.  She looks out the window as her hands 
move nervously in her lap.

'Home.  Are they ready for me?  Am I ready for them?  That's an easy 
answer...NO...No, I am so not ready for this.  Okay, let's be more 
honest with ourself shall we.  I could easily handle seeing Xander.  
He stood by me through all of this.  He saved me.  He saved all of 
us.  Dawnie will be harder, but I can do it.  I tried to kill her 
and yet she still came to see me in the end.  She hugged me, she 
forgave me, and she reminded me that everyone still loved me 
including Tara.  That tore me up.  She didn't need to remind me she 
wasn't a ball of green energy anymore.  She is more human than all 
of us sometimes.  She reminds me of the simpleness we all should 
have.  Only one didn't come to see me, only one hasn't talked to me, 
only one seems to not have forgiven me. I don't blame her.  How can 
I blame her?  I tried to kill her.  I tried to kill us all.  Buffy 
shouldn't forgive me.  I haven't forgiven myself.  I lied to Giles 
and myself.  I can't do this.  I'm not ready to see them.  I'm not 
ready to see her.  I can't.  I just can't.'  Willow drops her head 
in shame as the plane lands.

At the terminal, Xander and Dawn are standing right up front waiting 
for Willow.  Buffy is standing off to the side behind them.  People 
start coming off the flight.

'I'm hiding.  Why am I hiding?  It's too late now so no more time to 
hide.'  Buffy moves closer to Xander and Dawn trying to be brave.

"I didn't see her..Did you Xander?"  Dawn asks hopefully.

"No, I didn't.  I would have said.  Maybe not everyone is off the 
plane yet."  Xander offers.

"What's up?"  Buffy asks quietly, "Did we miss her?"

"No, she didn't get off yet."  Dawn answers.

"According to the attendant, everyone is off the plane."  Xander 
adds.

"Maybe she missed her flight.  Let's go give Giles a call."  Buffy 
says secretly relieved she might have a little more time before 
having to face Willow.

'Here we go,'  Willow takes a deep breath as she walks through the 
terminal gate,'Where are they?!'

Willow looks around wildly not believing her friends wouldn't come 
for her, 'They're jsut late that's all.  Xander, at least, will come 
and he's always late.'

Willow takes a seat in the terminal to wait.  What she can't see is 
her friends worriedly leaving the airport to find her.
