This isn't a "current" trend. The Spike/Willow
pairing has been around longer than Buffy/Faith which is older than
Buffy/Willow.
SabarShadow Kitten popularized the S/W while second season
was being broadcast. I would say that S/W was actually more popular for a
time than even B/A but that might be going a tad to far - just not by
much. Especially after the Third Season episodes of where he
kidnaps Willow to do the Dru spell and then the Vamp Willow in leather
arrives.
Also the there was an even larger upsurge of the S/W genre
after the famous "chip" incident in her room. <Now why do I wish I
didn't know about the history of Spike and Willow fanfiction? Oh because I liked
it when Spike was Spike and not the Heroic Rapist. Darn
it they ruined him almost as bad as they destroyed Buffy's
character.>
Where was I, now as to tastes? Willow and
Spike? Back in the second and third season before I saw the light of Wiffy
- yes I could deal with it. Now it makes me slightly sick to my
stomach. (Then again, the new Spike of seasons 6 and 7 does that
anyway.)
Speaking of Fuffy fic what happened to Faith
Rocks?
