Re: Not Entirely Off Topic: Mad-Hamlet Rants Again

Greetings,
Rants.
Gotta love em'.
Or be run over by em'.
In this case I'm gunning for the silent(read: lazy) majority in the
Buffy/Willow shipper 'community'.
Some interesting comments. I haven't been a part of this particular
community long enough to not think this was normal. I just thought that
was the way it is...
I think it's great that there are different ways for the "community" to
interact but I personally am not into all of them. And I'm sure I'm not
the only one.
I prefer e-mail and USEnet. Things I've been using for almost 20 years.
IRC/AIM/Instant whatever... I'm not really into that as a way to
communicate anymore (I overdosed on an earlier pre-Internet version of
that kind of thing in the mid 80's in college (yes kiddies, there
really were multinational networks BEFORE the Internet (Oh BITNET, I
remember you so fondly... :-( Oh the memories of trying to carrying on
a conversation with someone in Japan (many time zones away) over a slow
(1200bps) satellite link...).)
I'm not a real fan of "web boards". They remind too much of slow and
awkward versions of the BBS's I spent a lot of time on before I
discovered USENet. The one web board I participate on (TtH's)... it
took me months until I felt comfortable enough to actively participate
and if the fics I write weren't mostly BtVS crossovers I probably
wouldn't have even started.
I guess I'm as guilt as the next person when it comes to feedback. Some
times I say something, some times not.
And even though I write fanfic of the B/W sort... I'm fairly slow at it
(I can write fast when something strikes me but the organizing,
plotting, and revising of my fics usually takes me forever)... and on
top of that it is less than a quarter of my fanfic output. I'm lucky if
I end up with a coherent 10,000 words worth of fic in all categories in
a month.
So I'm not the person who is going to dump loads of fics here on a
weekly basis. And there is only so much of my non-work day that I can
spend hanging out at websites and reading fanfic unless I don't spend
any time finishing any of my current fics...
And.. oh yeah I'm one of those on both BwW and BlW. From the
descriptions I originally thought they had different purposes/goals but
now I'm not even sure if BuffyLovesWillow is even as alive as BwW.
