No. Never. As I said if the First has turned it's attention to that world the
script would read.

'Opening Credits. Focus on image of Earth from space.'

'Cue Dark Shadow falling over face of Earth.'

'Blow up Earth.'

'Closing Credits'.

The First is beyond Rules, hence why bother?

On the other hand, if the First Evil is as powerful as you make him out to be, that would have been the entire script for 'Welcome To The Hellmouth'.  Or you're acknowledging the existence of a great Evil but not the existence of a great Good.  In which case, what's the point of any of this thing we call life?  The way I see it, one has no power without the other.  The fact that Buffy has seen Heaven indicates that she knows there is such a thing as good, even if she has a hard time acknowledging it.

Allow me to get back to the Lord of the Rings metaphor you used.  If (and keep in mind that I'm saying 'If' here) the First Evil is the main villain of season seven, then it would be the eqivilent of Sauron, not Morgoth as you suggested in your letter, MH.  And like Sauron, the FE would be a background player, with various vampires and demons acting as his Uruk-Hai and Orc army, and possibly a more visible main villain as his Saruman.  The suggestion I think that Kimber was making was that the First Evil has been kept in check by the First Good (or whatever you want to call it), but sees a chink in the armor.  Essentially Buffy and crew hold the One Ring, and must keep it away from the First Evil.

Of course, this is all in the Land of Speculation, so who knows what's gonna happen?  I tend to agree with Kimber's statement that the mighty Joss has a plan.  Of course so did the writers of Moonlighting, and once that plan reached fruition, the show pretty much died without fanfare.  Here's hoping that Joss has learned from the tragic example of Dave and Maddie; if they fight a lot, that doesn't mean that you should put them in bed together!

Much has been made of reports concerning Buffy becoming a True Slayer at the end of the season.  Dan seems to think that this means Buffy will die at the end of the season (Rocky the Flying Squirrel; "But that trick never works!")  Me, I think that Joss could show up at Dan's door, with an unretouched production still of Sarah and Aly in bed together and a script penned by himself that logically explains that all of Season Six was a bridge to get Buffy and Willow together and he'd still slam the door in Joss's face!  Dan, just let it go, or else you'll be all veiny with stringy black hair.

My take is that she will reach some ultimate plateau of power that no Slayer has ever reached because they all died before they turned 21.  Hopefully we'll have a clearer picture of the main players and the gameboard by the halfway mark this season.  That's usually when things start to fall into place in the Buffyverse.

We'll just have to hang on to see what J-Man has in mind.

Why is Spike starting to remind me of Gollem all of a sudden?
