I gave a much bigger response on the other list, but I left one thing
out:
While it's true that DreamFaith's "counting down from 7-3-0" line might
mean some linkage of Seasons 7 and 3 (although I don't know what the 0
would indicate here), Joss has already made a public assertion as to the
meaning of the statement and it has nothing to do with anything past
"The Gift".
According to Joss, "7-3-0" means 730 daysin other words two years
(365 days apiece). Joss says that having that line in the Season Three
finale is a Slayer Dream Prophecy that Buffy will die in two years, at
the end of Season Five. Hence the phrase "counting down", since Buffy's
days are numbered and running out.
That's also why the clock with 7:30 on it in "Restless" gets this
response:
Buffy: It's so late.
Tara: Oh, that clock's completely wrong.
Thus Joss indicates that Buffy still has "miles to go before she sleeps"
(this quote from Robert Frost is also in the "Graduation Day, Part 2"
dream sequence), since she's only halfway through the two years she has
left. And it's also a tweak at those who thought that "7-3-0" meant
7:30"completely wrong", Joss helpfully points out.
Okay, so technically with 2000 being a Leap Year, two years would be 731
days, and also Buffy seems to jump off the tower in May when Graduation
was in June, but we can grant a little artistic license on this, IMO.
