In case anyone's interested here's a fragment from a fic I'm
working on which I'm hoping gives a slightly different view of
Ira. The back ground is that Willow has just returned to her
parents home briefly to pick up a few items from her old bedroom:

Judging by the dent in her bed clothes and the books scattered at
the foot of the bed her mother had succeeded in banishing her
fathers new found guitar aspirations from the lounge. Willow
smiled, both she and Ira loved Shelia dearly. Sometimes she could
be a bit... intense, causing father and daughter to bond in
common exile. Grinning at the memory of when her father had
arrived home one evening last year with a six string in one hand
and a selection of Burt Wheedon tucked under the opposite arm,
she crossed to the closet.

In case anyone isn't aware of him, Burt Wheedon wrote a series of
books about learning to play guitar. They're titled something
like "Learn to play guitar in 12 easy lessons".
