Well, a battle axe is a lousy weapon for any style that uses speed and
agility. At her size, Buffy would use speed and agility. It's too much of
an advantage to be small and quick not to use, even with her strength. Same
goes for any of the big swords, bastard, hand and a half, etc. A katana
would be about the upper limit of practical length for her size. I'd say
katana or broadsword. She was using a broadsword against Angelus in
Becoming. There are some advantages to a double edge. Also, a broadsword
could be modified by adding a strip of wooden inlay down the middle of the
blade where a blood groove would go, making it suitable for staking vampires
as well as just beheading them. It would be shorter and easier to conceal
too. A broadsword would be more practical for Buffy, but a katana has a
higher coolness factor. The porkchop would thaw if carried around.

Oh, and what's up with Iggy? Sounds like he's a lot more than a cat.
Familiar maybe?
