FF: Kryptonite Repost (3/?)

Title:	Kryptonite (3/?)

Author: Carmen

E-mail: ortiz_c4021@h...

Disclaimer: None of these characters belong to me. The Scooby Gang
and
friends belong to Joss Whedon and Mutant Enemy. All characters from
the DCU
do not belong to me I'm just taking out for a ride through my twisted
imagination, Adrienne Mackenzie Prince-Kent is mine.

Rating: For now PG-13 to R depending on your point of view.

Summary: In the DCU eighteen years ago during a battle with Darksied,
a
strange and mysterious anomaly occurred , unleashed by an experiment
by
Julian September at a critical time and out of this anomaly was born
a child
to two of the most powerful heroes of the JLA, now attending UC
Sunnydale,
she will become the Slayers greatest ally.

Author's Note: This is really more of a Faith/Other romance with
Buffy/Willow pairing as well. Faith redeemed herself and is still
part of
the Scoobies in my story. Also I've messed with the timeline on a
lot of
stuff. Joyce Summers lives!!!

Distribution: I like sharing, just give me a heads up.

Feedback? Yes please!! (PLEASE, I NEED SOME ON THIS CHAPTER!)

---------------
Previously on Kryponite....

"It seems we were very fortunate, a contact I haven't heard from in a
long
time just called with information on the Sect, we know what their
next move
is, and we also know how to defeat them."

"Funny how this happened to quickly after you joined," Spike said
looking at
Mac.

Faith and the Scoobies turned her attention to Mac as soon as they
heard him
say that.

"Gee, thanks now I'm a frickin' good luck charm."

Willow and Xander laughed and Buffy turned back to Giles. Faith and
Spike
kept their attention on Mac as she also turned her attention to what
Giles
had to say.

`Damn, this can't be good,' Mac thought hoping that Spike would drop
it.

Again her cell rang and she answered it, "Hello?"

"Hi honey."

"Mom!"

"Hey I missed you, would it be alright if I visit?"

Now on Kryptonite...

The next day.

Walking through the hall of the University Mac walked along side
Buffy and
Willow. Although she tried to pay attention to the slayage plans
they were
talking about, her thoughts were elsewhere

"Hey are you alright?" Willow asked.

"Oh fine, it's just that.."

"Nervous about first time slayage?" Buffy asked.

"No, it's my mom," Mac said not wanting them to think that she was
backing
out.

"Yeah what about her?"

"You guys know that she's planning on visiting right?"

"Yeah as soon as she gets done with some business, what exactly does
your
mom do anyways?"

"She's on loan to a museum."

"On loan?"

"Yeah she an expert on ancient Greek culture and she lectures a lot,"
Mac
said pride in her voice.

"Cool, my mom works at a gallery, that's kinda the same."

"Yeah anyway she's coming and I'm kinda nervous," Mac was very
nervous.

"About what?"

"I want her to be proud of me," Mac answered.

"She's your mom, of course she'll be proud," Buffy said hoping it
would be
true for her friend, "and if not it'll take some time for her to get
used to
things."

"Yeah just don't go disappearing on us, okay?" Willow said.

Having been told about that and being caught up she knew what Willow
meant.
The whole running away after the battle with Angel and revealing her
Slayer
destiny so suddenly. She didn't have a problem with the `Hey mom,
guess
what I have superpowers, thing,' but that didn't exclude her from
having
secrets from her mother too.

"So," she said changing the subject, "anything on the Glory front?"

"No, but I know it's only a matter of time," Buffy said.

They walked a little further until they went their separate ways and
headed
to class.
-------------

It had been three days, they defeated the Sect, stopped the
Apocalypse, and
celebrated with pizza afterwards. Although there had still been no
sign of
Glory, it was slaying as usual or at least until some new prophecy
reared
it's ugly head.

"So you're bringing your mom for dinner, right," Buffy asked putting
her
books up as she got ready to head out to her mothers house.

"Yeah, as soon as she gets here, are you sure everyone will be there?"

"Yes, so don't worry," Willow said laughing at her nervous friend, it
was so
obvious that she thought the world of her mom.

Leaving their dorm room Mac headed out and waited at the Visitors
Center, it
was not very crowded so after an hour she saw her mom walk in through
the
double doors wearing jeans and a blouse, somehow every time her mom
wore
even the most ordinary things she always managed to seem so
sophisticated in
it.

"Hi," she said hugging her mom.

"So I take it you missed me too?" Diana said with a smile.

"Oh yeah," Mac answered.

"So where are we going?"

"Well a friend of mine has invited us to dinner, plus since it's kind
of a
weekly thing you can meet all my friends at the same time."

As Mac knocked on the Summers' door she turned to her mother, "I
thought I'd
tell you that I've been meaning to reveal myself to them, but for now
just
watch them and I'll tell you why afterwards, okay?"

Looking at her daughter with surprise Diana nodded slowly, Adrienne
never
did anything without reason, she might as well get used to the idea
that
more often than not it was a good reason.

Dawn answered the door, "Wow! You're tall!"

"Dawn!" Buffy said outraged, "you're just as bad as Anya."

"Am not!"

"Oh so what would you call how you opened the door?" the elder
Summers
sibling said crossing her arms across her chest.

Turning back to the two at the door she said, "Sorry."

"I'm used to it." Diana stated simply, so far so good.

"Mom meet Buffy and Dawn Summers."

When the two entered the living room Diana saw the entire group
sitting in
various places.

"Mom, this is Willow Rosenburg, Xander Harris, his girlfriend Anya,
Faith,
Rupert Giles, and here comes Mrs. Joyce Summers."

>From their positions the Scoobies greeted the newcomer with awe and
enthusiasm.

"You're tall!" Anya said.

"Told ya," Buffy said pointedly to her sister who blushed in
embarrassment.

The dinner went along smoothly with everyone contributing to the
conversation then as it progressed the adults of the group began to
talk
shop as the Scoobies turned their attention to other matters.

"Xander if you continue to stare at her I'm not going to have sex
with you
tonight!" Anya hissed.

"Anya!" Xander whined.

"Serves you right!" Mac said with a smile.

She had long gotten over the fact that men would always find her
mother
attractive, and had also given up hope that her mother would ever
find `The
One.'

"So Mac, you going on patrol or is your mom staying overnight?" Faith
asked.

"I don't know," Mac said honestly she was feeling torn between the
strange
and growing desire to be near Faith and wanting to spend time with
her mom.

"Well whatever it is you know where to find us," Buffy said looking
at Faith
curiously.
-------------

One the way back to campus Amazon mother and daugther talked and
caught each
other up on events in their lives.

"Are you sure, this is what you want to do?"

Adrienne looked at her mother with a smile, "Yes, you and I both know
that
there will come a time that they will need someone like me, I care
for
them."

"I can see that they've got themselves quite a little family," Diana
sighed.

"Mom."

Diana waved her hand to cut her daughter off, "I often wondered
sometimes,
if things had been reversed with my own mother would I have done the
same
thing she'd done. The answer, I realize now, is that's what every
parent
feels like, from what you told me, your friend went through the same
thing I
did. And I refuse to do it to you, if this is your path, then, I
just want
to say that I'm proud of you."

Grinning Adrienne asked, "I wonder how Dad will take it?"

The discussion soon turned to Adrienne's' plans for the next holiday,
and to
how her playing was coming along. Music kept her grounded, and her
guitar
had been a present from her father, it was one of her most prized
possessions.

As her mother flew away Mac turned towards the cemetery to look for
her
friends, feeling like a weight had been lifted off of her. By no
means was
Superman an absentee father, he took an active role in Adrienne's
life, but
sometimes she wondered how he could see things in absolutes when she
saw
things in shades of grey, and living color, maybe she should blame
the
Batman for that. Her time visiting along with her mother was far
from
unproductive.

Entering the cemetery she once again relied on her hearing to find
her
friends. It only took ten minutes of wandering around and she was
far from
happy to see them being held by twenty vampires and one very ugly
green
demon.

"Now that we have you all the two of you will see your friends
drained and
turned before `I' finish with you."

"I hope you know, I'm missing the Friday the 13th movie marathon,"
Spike
said.

"You are a pathetic excuse of a true fiend," the demon said.

"Oh I'm so gonna love kicking your ass!" Faith said from her shackled
position.

"As much I'd love to see that my dear, it's not going to happen with
those
stolen titanium chains that are holding you and your fellow Slayer."

"Oh," Mac spoke up from her position beside a mausoleum.

Leaning casually she studied the positions of the clusters the
vampires
made. There were three groups of six, with the two left over beside
the
demon. One group guarding the Slayers and keeping them away from the
other
Scoobies who had their own group and the third was milling around off
the
side.

"Who are you?" The demon asked.

"Mac get out of here!" Buffy yelled desperately.

"Oh a friend of yours, you," he said to the third group, "get her!"

"Geez, you guys were right unoriginal dialogue," Mac said to the
slayer
turning to the vamps she added, "I'm so 'not' in the mood to talk."

Her eye's glowed red, "Really not in the mood, when my friends are in
danger."

Her heat vision incinerated them all, leaving everyone gaping at her.

"Now I'm going to free the Slayers," she said moving in the blink of
an eye
and breaking the chains, "and `anyone' still touching the others gets
worse
than fried."

Willow and the others suddenly found themselves released and alone.

"Good now you won't get worse, you'll just get fried."

"Hey leave some for us!" Faith said wanting to pound something.

Shrugging her shoulders, Mac stood with the other Scoobies and waited
until
the slayers defeated the Vampires and went after the demon.

"So um," Giles began, "an explanation uh, w-would be in order."

"Sure thing, but maybe we'd better take it elsewhere."

"My apartment then."

The battle finished, they turned back to the Slayers and began the
trek back
to Giles' apartment. Once in with the door closed the interrogation
began.
For the most part the Scoobies seated themselves first with Spike
once again
in front of the television set.

"How?" Buffy asked from behind her.

"I was the one you saw," Mac said as she began to hover two feet in
the air.

"Shit!" Faith said, "That was you?"

"Yeah, that was me."

Spike had torn his gaze away from the television set and looked back
and
forth since the movie had begun.

Still in the air Mac said pointing at the set, "Spike, it's on."

Glancing one more time he rushed to where she was floating her arms
crossed
watching him with a bemused expression on her face, as he moved his
arm back
and forth under her.

Hearing Anya snicker he looked up and moved back to watch the show.

Standing now she waited until they made the next move. She smiled
shyly at
the group, which if she thought about it probably looked funny
considering
she towered over all of them. She was very relieved when a few of
them
smiled back.

"So what else can you do?" Faith asked not sure what she was feeling
anymore.

"Faith!" Buffy admonished, curious but not wanting to seem rude.

"What?" she said shrugging her shoulders deciding that she didn't
care.

"You just don't ask that," she said.

Mac laughed, "It's okay, I understand she's curious and so is
everyone
else."

"But it was still rude," Buffy said.

"Yeah well I understand, there's speed, flight of course, near
invulnerability I don't go around testing that on purpose, super
strength, I
guess that's it, oh and the um heat vision."

"Do you have x-ray too?" Xander asked.

Feeling self-conscious Buffy moved to the couch while Faith stood
directly
in Macs' sight.

"No, and if I did I have no reason to use it, I was raised better
than
that." Mac said defensively, it had crossed her mind whether she
could have
resisted the temptation of someone like Faith it she did have that
ability.

"Cool, so um what are you gonna do?" Xander asked.

"I'd like to keep helping, if you'd let me."

"Well of course whatever help you can give would be greatly
appreciated, but
you do of course know that this is more the Slayers duty, even with
your
help that doesn't change that fact all that much," Giles said his
regret
showing in his voice.

"Maybe, but I know about how short Slayers lives are, maybe with help
my
adding to yours they'll both beat the record."

"So when exactly were you planning on telling us?" Buffy asked.

"As soon as I got the okay from my mom."

"Oh and who's your mom Wonder Woman?" Xander said sarcastically.

"Well.."

"You're kidding right?" his face turned red.

She shook her head.
