You are right. From the
spell-gone-wrong-because-Willow-was-distracted-by-the-thought-of-Buffy
point of view there's indeed no logical explanation to this. I wanted
to have SMG and AH in the same Buffyverse as Willow. So I took the
author's freedom to make it an asymmetrical exchange. But I accept
your critique.

And it was wrong twice. It's one of those subtle differences that are
quite difficult to grasp for me as a non-native speaker.
