See, it was that whole cuddly, kinda shy Spike and soft, sweet Buffy 
that made me cranky. Anyway, I think it's fascinating how reactions 
differ. I thought last week's breakup was solidly written (tho weakly 
played), and you didn't believe it at all. This week, I see them 
being all mushy but you think the scene was nicely anti-B/S. Trippy, 
yeah?

OTOH, I'm coming to believe that SMG really was playing the "lady doth 
protest too much" angle all this time (this year and last). That 
pisses me off no end; I just LOATHE that phrase and the way it's 
tossed around to minimise women's words & experience. Still, if 
that's what she was doing, then I can understand that "cordial and/or 
humane" is supposed to represent a big change, a turning away from 
Denial mode.
